67th Panhellenic Conference of the HSBMB
Ioannina, 25-27 November2016

Dear all,
The 67th Annual Conference of the Hellenic Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HSBMB) which was held this year in Ioannina, at the "Karolos Papoulias" Conference Center of the University of Ioannina, on 25-27 November 2016, was completed with great success. The Conference included the participation of renowned scientists from Greece and abroad as invited speakers and attracted intense scientific interest from a wide range of disciplines in the research fields of Life Sciences.

As all Conferences of HSBMB, the Conference aimed at reinforcing the scientific interaction between research teams of Greek Scientists from various fields of Biosciences, inside or outside Greece, and highlighting important aspects of the research work of Greek scientists and recent research advances from the work of nationally and internationally established researchers. The Conference fulfilled these aims to an outstanding extent and it was generally accepted that this was one of the most successful HSBMB Conferences, emphasizing the dynamism of the HSBMB research community even at the current financially difficult times and at a Conference held in a city outside Athens.

The Conference was attended by almost 1100 registered participants, including 700 pre-graduate and 170 post-graduate students. These figures are unprecedented by any other previous conference of the HSBMB series. There were 276 abstracts submitted for presentation, of which 52 were selected for oral presentations and 219 were presented as posters, as well as 14 invited lectures by distinguished scientists, 6 from abroad and 8 from Greece.

The oral and poster presentations were of high quality, and all participants, be they presenters, moderators, lecturers or audience, operated in a highly interactive academic environment which was stimulating and educative for all of us.

The 67th HSBMB Conference was supported by the University of Ioannina, as well as by several international organizations, transportation services, scientific supply companies and publishers who acted as sponsors and are highly appreciated for their generous support (more information HERE).

More information about the program and the report on the Conference can be found on the official website of the Conference www.eebmb2016.gr that will remain active for at least one more year, as well as in the next electronic newsletter (e-bulletin) of the HSBMB which is expected to appear on December 2016 or January 2017 in the website of the HSBMB http://www.eebmb.gr/index.php/newsletter.
